American Buffalo gold investment coin
The American Buffalo gold coin is minted by the United States Mint as a 24 karat gold coin weighing 31.108 grams with a fineness of 999.9/1000. It is an alternative to the lower purity American Eagle coins. This $50 gold coin is a replica of the nickel five-cent piece that was minted in the United States between 1913 and 1938. The obverse features the head of an American Indian (a mix of Big Tree, Iron Tail, and Two Moons tribal features), while the reverse depicts the figure of a bison on a grassy knoll that gives the coin its name.
