The Queen´s Beasts Silver Coins
The Royal British Mint has decided to issue a set of coins featuring the heraldic animals of British royalty, which will be minted over a ten-year period. Each year the coins have a different heraldic motif on the reverse. A series of ten heraldic sculptures created by the sculptor James Woodford to mark the Queen's coronation in 1953 were chosen as the subject for the coins. The series of coins depicts heraldic animal motifs - the lion of England, the griffin of Edward III, the falcon of the Plantagenets, the black bull of the Dukes of Clarence, the Yale of the Duke of Beaufurt, the white lion of Mortimer, the white greyhound of Richmond, the red dragon of Wales, the unicorn of Scotland and the white horse of Hanover. On the obverse is a likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by the same artist as the reverse. The inscription ELIZABETH II. D´G´REG´F´D and the face value. This makes this issue not only a suitable investment coin, but also an interesting collector's piece. It is a coin made of pure gold 999,9/1000 Au.
