Austria-Hungary, full name Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The monarchy existed from 8 June 1867 to 31 October 1918. This state was created by the transformation of the Austrian Empire (successor to the Habsburg Monarchy) following the Austro-Hungarian Settlement in February 1867. A large number of coins of various denominations and metals, including gold and silver coins, were minted during the long duration of the state. Coins from the reign of Franz Joseph I are the most represented on the market, e.g. the gold Gulden and Crown coins, or silver coins supplemented by thalers or gold pieces.
